Employment Opportunities

Whimsy Brook Farm Ltd. Is a modern, well-organized, Connecticut State Horse Farm of Environmental Distinction with two barns and a total of 12 stalls, two tack rooms, indoor and an outdoor wash stalls, three run-in sheds with heated stock tanks, nine never muddy stone dust turnout paddocks with water, five grass pastures, a never muddy rubber-covered riding arena, and a covered round pan with viewing area. We are partially solar powered, have a back-up generator, and have a State of Connecticut approved compost facility. We use fly predators and fly traps to make us fly-free, and we do our work with tractor loaders and not wheelbarrows. We have employed hundreds of full and part-time local folks over our nearly half century of operation. In some cases we have had on our staff young adults whose parent was a former employee! All our employees must be legal to work in the United States, by either being a citizen, or having a Green Card or a valid work permit. We do not pay “under the table.”

Our employees receive Social Security/Medicare and Workers Comp benefits. All new employees have an orientation period and in some cases they receive advanced training in pasture management, horse whispering, equine diseases and prevention, first aid, lameness detection, and the provision of alternative therapies such as PEMF and Class IV Laser. They all receive an Employee Manual which details compensation as well as Farm protocols and policies which they are expected to stringently observe.

We advertise on www.Yardandgroom.com, various university student employment centers, on our Whimsy Brook Farm FaceBook page, and in the FaceBook Group “CT Farm Need and Help Wanted.”

All candidates MUST fill out our Employment Application by hand, completely, without referencing their resume (although we would be happy to also look at your resume.) The application may be downloaded by clicking here. You can fax your completed application to us at 203-938-0632, or scan/email it, or mail the application by regular post back to us. We will then call you and set up an interview if we consider you appropriate for the position for which you have applied and we have an opening.
