Holistic Philosophy

We believe that humans, animals, and the environment need to be an integrated whole if we are all to survive. To that end, we farm with the environment in mind, be it manure or pasture management, erosion control (we are a demonstration training site for Connecticut's Department of Energy and Environmental Protection), or pest management. As a State of Connecticut Horse Farm of Environmental Distinction, we compost our manure in a DEEP approved compost facility. Also, we do not use poisons on our land, and rely on Fly Predators and fly traps as natural methods of pest control for a fly-free environment.

We believe that a horse is not just a hoof, a hock, or a back, but an integrated whole with particular emotional needs as well as physical attributes. And we believe that riders are not just hands and legs but entire bodies with individual learning styles and abilities.
